Days of Witchery: 37. A Famous Pagan/Witch!

I don’t know if this has been proved true or not, but it has been said that Viggo Mortensen (Aragon in LotR) is pagan, or “heathen”. Something that strengthens these rumours is his use of a thor’s hammer necklace as well as other assorted necklaces. It’s also been said he has some pagan tattoos. How true this really is about him being a “heathen” however I’m not so sure about. As I am swedish and we have close relations with Denmark, I know that the old religion is really strong as a national pride thing. A lot of young people have pagan or norse tattoos. They feel a bond with the religion but doesn’t necessary believe in it.

What do you think? Pagan or Not?

While historically you might find some Pagan references in his work, and certainly in his choice of talismans, I doubt that Mr. Mortensen has any particular affiliation. He has learned about a great many practices (including native american), and recently financially supported the rededication of a catholic chapel associated with his favorite football team in Argentina.

Yes, and that’s the ultimate spiritual path if you think about it. Just going your own way and doing what feels good and right.

Right, I don’t really agree with that, but cheers to you for having your own strong belief!

Now, now, no hate needed against other religions. We need to teach tolerance and acceptance, not hatred. WE need to be the example.

Exactly, respect is what we need in this world, not anything else.
