A Pagan Dream

So I had a dream a couple of nights ago, and it was clearly of pagan character. The night before I had smudged the bed and hanged up my dreamcatcher.

The details are fuzzy now, but there was a cave lined with red roses, that I only could access in the company of the Tuatha dé Danann. Cernunnos was there, and there were some romantic (not sexual) moments. I put a lock of my hair by the cave so he could find me when I was away. Then there were some running and some deer and some golden lights sent by Cernunnos to me.

The cave could be the entrance to the underground to where the Tuatha dé Danann were banished, but symbolically I’m not so sure. It’s hard to figure out your own dreams. I’m good with others but not with my own.

Someone who has any ideas about my dream?

Symbols in my dream:

  • Cernunnos
  • Cave
  • Roses
  • Lock of hair
  • deer
  • golden lights

Of course, the symbols sent to you by your own subconscious or divine self, mean whatever it is they mean to your subconscious or divine self. Here’s what I get out of it.

Your statement that there wrere romantic (not sexual) moments, indicates a bit of a split in your perception. Is there also sense that yo9ua re beyond or past such things? Or is there a desire for a romantic relationship to be more about the emotinal contact, and less about the sexual coupling?

Often a cave refers to going within (to your own subconscious or “inner self”. Here it is, in essence, a going within on a romantic path (hence the red roses).

the Tuatha may represent our magickal and natural selves. You cannot find your way within to the romantic experiences you crave without coming to temrs and accepting your own personal natural inclinations, or your own magickal nature.

Cernunnos here, seems to represent pure romance. Is physcial relationship or desire a part of it even though physical sexual activity wasn’t part of the dream?

The lock of hair is a gift of your self, as you said, the creation of a connection so that what you want (either represented by Cernunnos, or a conscious more emotional connection with Cernunnos himself) can find you and be drawn to you.

The deer may represent feminine or masculine innocense despite their sexually active nature, depending whether they were male or female or amixed group of deer, In which case it is the wild-joy nature.

Having come to turns with your magickal nature and genuine personal nature, you have been abel to find within yourself the path to what you seek, which is love, romance, connection, relationship. This opens the way for you to join in the dance of wild-joy (feeling loved, taking action on that).

The gift of magickal happiness: golden light Then becomes yours.

Please take whatever is useful to you and disguard the rest.
